Zambo de arcilla

Clay Zambo is a composer/lyricist, music director, and educator in the frozen northland of Connecticut. His work for the theatre includes Windjammers (Northern Sky Theatre, WI), Christmas Carol Experience (Fairfield Center Stage), Greenbrier Ghost (Spirit of Broadway, CT) and nearly two dozen musicals for family audiences commissioned by NYC’s Kaufman Music Center and Brooklyn Children’s Theatre.

During his career as a liturgical musician, when holidays are always workdays, he created the Hanukkah songs “The Ballad of Thomas the Shammus” and “Afraid of the Dark” and co-wrote “A Mother’s Carol,” which was premiered and recorded by the choral ensemble VocalEssence.

He is a faculty member at the University of Hartford, a proud member of the Dramatists Guild and the BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, a not-very-fast runner, and a pretty good cook. Clay has tremendous appreciation for grammar and punctuation—and, in fact, met his wife by asking a question about the proper use of the apostrophe.

While having great respect for the winter holidays of all faith traditions, he maintains that everything would be better if snow fell only on things that are ordinarily green.
