CIUDAD DE HANUKKAH

WELCOME TO HANUKKAH TOWN

We are out of the shtetl and into the vibrant, teeming Hanukkah Town neighborhood. This historic district still has reminders of generations of immigrants who flocked to this area beginning over two thousand years ago. German Jews established early roots and then Ashkenazi from Eastern Europe and Sephardi from Brazil, Spain and Portugal joined the mishpachah. Some of the smaller streets, little more than alleys, still have the cobblestones. Hear the schnorrers asking for a little bit of gelt. Mind your toes or the pushcarts might run over them!

Pull up a seat and have a little nosh at Bubbe’s House, voted number one restaurant in all of Holidayopolis for three hundred fifty years in a row! Then head over to Second Temple where you’ll learn a bit of the history of Hanukkah, and afterward, you can go to Shalom Waters, a beautiful place to restore and reflect. Hop on over to Cinemah Hanukiah, where you can see a few of our past events. And last, but certainly not least, no visit to Hanukkah Town could be complete without a visit to Menorah Square, where we do our official candle lighting.
